Where is the Joshua vs. Ngannou fight?

The fight will take place at Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

On Friday, Francis Ngannou will get another chance to upset the established order and potentially set himself up for another shot against Tyson Fury, providing he can defeat former two-time world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua.

The French-Cameroonian is back in Saudi Arabia for the second fight of his crossover career, this time against former two-time world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua.

The Predator intends to continue his MMA career, but alongside boxing, not instead of it. Anthony Joshua, meanwhile, is trying to get back to the top of boxing after losing to Usyk consecutively, and although he has since won three fights in a row, none of them have been against elite opponents. His last fight was in December 2023 against Otto Wallin in Riyadh, whom he defeated by a fifth round knockout.

Anthony Joshua watched Francis Ngannou knock down Tyson Fury in October and figured he could do better than the lineal champ did. It’s Joshua’s turn to face Ngannou now. Joshua (27-3, 24 KOs) is hoping a solid performance will get him closer to a fight against Tyson Fury, which he’s been asking for since before his first loss to Andy Ruiz in 2019.

Ngannou (0-1) hopes to continue shaking up the heavyweight division with a win against a top tier opponent in his second professional match.

The Anthony Joshua vs. Francis Ngannou fight is a must-watch boxing event. There's more on the line than many casual viewers even realize.

The outcome of this fight could determine the way that Ngannou carves his future in both boxing and MMA. He's even said as much. If Ngannou loses, it will be the second time he's failed at a major boxing fight and that could push him back towards MMA and the PFL. But if he defeats Joshua, we could see Ngannou continuing on the path to boxing paydays for the foreseeable future.

Ngannou dropped Fury in the third round of their fight last October before going on to lose a narrow points decision in Saudi Arabia. And he is back in the desert tonight to take on Anthony Joshua who is himself riding a three-fight win streak following victories over Jermaine Franklin, Robert Helenius and Otto Wallin last year.

Joshua looked to be out of the world title picture following his back-to-back defeats by Oleksandr Usyk but the winner of tonight's fight could be propelled into an undisputed clash with the winner of Usyk's clash with Tyson Fury on May 18.

Anthony Joshua looks to continue his quest to become champion again. Francis Ngannou is ready to show the world his performance against Tyson Fury wasn’t a fluke.

Joshua and Ngannou clash for the ultimate bragging rights in a mega fight.

A former two-time unified heavyweight champion, Joshua is on a two-fight win streak after losing twice to Oleksandr Usyk. The Brit knocked out Robert Helenius and dismantled Otto Wallin in his last fight in December. If “AJ” wins, he could wait to face the winner of Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk for undisputed gold or face someone like Filip Hrgovic for the (soon) vacant IBF heavyweight title.

Ngannou is a former UFC heavyweight champion who recently signed with the Professional Fighters League. In his first-ever boxing fight in October, he faced Tyson Fury. "The Predator” lost, but he did knock down the WBC heavyweight champion. The Cameroonian has knockout power, with twelve wins in the cage via knockout. He believes his power, which took Fury off his feet, will help him against Joshua.

Ngannou left the UFC in early 2023, vacating its heavyweight title in the process. The Cameroonian, 37, then made his boxing debut in October, flooring Tyson Fury in Riyadh before losing a controversial decision.

Following that remarkable event, Ngannou returns to the same city for a bout with Joshua, who also fought in Riyadh recently; in December, “AJ” stopped Otto Wallin to seal his third win from as many fights in 2023.

Joshua, 34, was expected to box Deontay Wilder next, but the American lost on the same night as the former two-time unified champion’s win over Wallin. Instead of that long-awaited mega-fight, Joshua now has a clash with another heavy hitter in Ngannou.

Ngannou nearly upset WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury in the former UFC champ's boxing debut in October. It was an unfathomable performance that immediately put Ngannou among the elite in heavyweight boxing. Joshua is the next immense obstacle for Ngannou to overcome. Joshua has rehabilitated his image nicely after consecutive losses to Oleksandr Usyk. He looked most rejuvenated in December by stopping Otto Wallin in five rounds. It's a major spectacle that could propel Ngannou's Cinderella story or Joshua's resurrection to a title shot.

Friday's card also features WBC featherweight champion Rey Vargas defending his title against Nick Ball, plus Zhilei Zhang vs. Joseph Parker for the WBO interim heavyweight title. Undefeated lightweights Istrail Madrimov and Magomed Kurbanov round out the main card.

The Briton appeared to see his tenure as one of the biggest boxers in the world come to a close after back-to-back defeats against Oleksandr Usyk, but the London 2012 Olympic Champion could yet secure another title shot if he prevails here. Despite his opponent boasting only one single bout in his professional boxing career, Joshua will be under no illusions that the French-Cameroonian fighter will be out to make a name for himself after a terrific showcase against Tyson Fury.

Anthony Joshua and Francis Ngannou face off in what appears to be a mismatch on paper, given the latter's minimal record in professional boxing, but both nevertheless come with an impressive pedigree into this fight.

Joshua boasts an impressive 27-3 record, having turned professional following his gold medal victory at the London 2012 Olympics. His wins include seismic victories over Wladimir Klitschko and Alexander Povetkin, though his two losses to Oleksandr Usyk remain a glaring blight on his record.

A year ago, this might have been considered nothing more than a spectacle. Just another frivolous entry in the history of boxing vs. MMA matchups. But that was before Francis Ngannou showed that he has a little more to offer in boxing than the average MMA convert.

In October, Ngannou made his boxing debut at Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia against Tyson Fury. Instead of a sideshow, it turned out to be a legitimate scrap with Fury coming away with a hard-earned split-decision victory over 10 rounds.

Two months later Anthony Joshua beat Otto Wallin in Riyadh on a double feature with Deontay Wilder. Joshua and Wilder were supposed to finally meet, but Joseph Parker pulled off a stunning upset and opened the door for Ngannou to step in to this huge fight.

However, if there's a kernel of truth about Joshua's mindset heading into this fight then there could be an upset. Joshua has struggled in the past with letting his hands go if he's taking on a power puncher. Since his upset loss to Andy Ruiz there's a pensiveness that has creeped into his game from time to time.
